My studio is empty and it feels really weird. It's like I finished all these paintings and came to a screeching halt. Only I'm not happy coming to a halt. So I'm deciding to just proceed like I always do... looking for the images. I prepped panels and made these drawings of myself, and by the end of today I was making a task list for tomorrow. I easily forget that all those paintings didn't just happen, they chugged along one step at a time, one erasing and one sanding at a time. To start the process is intimidating and scary. I'm glad I know how to jump in....

a few paintings...
One of 8 small paintings all about the smoke monster. I like how the smoke is coming out of her dress and is on her hands...
The last painting I finished for the show. I thought it was too pale and didn't have enough contrast, but then all of a sudden I started liking it!
and below another one of the smoke monster series except she is letting go of my grade school photographs...
One of three paintings all from the same image, but all look way different. Everyone calls the figure a "she", but I am not quite sure. It is hard to convey the ambiguity of it. I don't think I succeeded.
I think her parents will never leave her alone, even if they are only in her mind...
