New Painting

Hmmm.... If you have listened to Rosemary Clooney sing "Come on-a My House" there is this part in the song that sounds EXACTLY like insanity to me. It's when Stan Freeman plays this totally strange and jangly harpsichord solo. I love it and hate it all at once.
This painting reminds me of that bit of music. Don't know if I hate it or love it.

My painting is called "My House!!!" and is the saga of two women sharing a domicile. They get a bit fractured at times... one may leave the sponge in the sink, and the other hair on the bathroom floor, but they manage to stitch it together in the end.

Let me know if you think the music matches the painting, especially the other world harpsichord.

Happy Mother's Day!

This is Simon's new stroller. Now he can walk til he gets tired and Ginger, Monty and I can take the long walks we need. Strolling with Simon is not exercise!
Today I took him on a test run in the neighborhood. Lots of pointing fingers in moving cars, and "you have a funny looking baby".
I do feel like a bit of a spectacle. Simon seems to be enjoying the ride, his nose is up and his ears flap in the breeze!

I am still doing this...

Not many blog posts lately.
But, probably more after today. I've been working hard to "catch up" on my life.
I just finished watching "Our City Dreams" which is a documentary about 5 New York based artists, all women. Worth watching, especially for the footage of Kiki Smith working.

It's strange what makes me want to work.
It's order. Neat, clean, organized studio and house.
I vacuumed the studio floor and suddenly felt all gung ho.

I have so many little pieces of "stuff". All necessary. When I'm really having a good time I wander around and find exactly what goes where.

The above coaster does not fit with the rest of them, but I like it better than any so far. The drawings were done by an unknown person, I just colored them up a bit. And there is my Rosemary in "White Christmas". And the saying, "give it a ride?".
OK, I can tell this makes no sense.
Rent that DVD. It's worth it just to gaze at Kiki Smith's hair. Wow...
