Why am I sledding on a trash can lid?

That's me, Di, and Roger at about age 13.
Snow was a rarity in Southern California, someone drove us up the Angeles Crest Highway to play in it.

There is something about my trash can lid that is infinitely cheering.
I was myself, even back then, even with peer pressure to be like everyone else. I just couldn't help it.
My paintings are like this trashcan lid... a different way of doing something. An individual way of expressing myself. I knew at the time this photo was taken how different I was from them and how this was funny and sad all at once.

The good part is that I have always had friends, despite the fact that I often and still carry around a trash can lid instead of a regulation Sno-flake slider.

I'm getting ready for my show at the Eugene Piano Academy in June. These are 8 paintings, 6"square that use the same drawing in each. I love playing with a series and it's so interesting to see how each figure is so different according to placement and coloring.
I kinda have that "having a show" fear that once everything is done I won't be able to start work again. That I won't have any ideas left.
Finishing all this work has told me many things, but mainly how much room I have to improve. That's not a bad thing for me, it is a great motivation.
Shout out to Alice and Linda... hugs!

What I am up to...

1. I finally got my new computer. Now I have to learn how to work it. Luckily it comes with tutorials.
2. Ginger and I celebrated 25 years together. We had a sweet, quiet relaxing 3 days at the coast. Simon came along. Check out his cute pants.
3. I watched the finale of Project Runway tonight. Creativity and lots of gay people.
4. I'm finishing up my last two big paintings and 11 small ones for a show in June.
5. The sun has been out a lot. I love it.
I hope everyone is up to something that makes life satisfying.

Two sides...

I have two sides to my artist self.
There is the careful side that contemplates the next move, studies what is happening, asks for feedback and advice, saves the whites, and preserves the surface of the paper-like ground.
This painting explores the other side of me.
I rely on intuition mostly. It results in lots of mistakes, irregular surfaces and sometimes freshness and energy. These are the paintings I worry about being "good". Sometimes I won't show them to anyone. But here is a new one for you.

I ordered my new computer today, but it will take 2-3 weeks to get here. It's hard to do without
i photo, but Ms. G has been kind enough to give me some time on hers...
These great words are from a school stamp set from Woodrow Wilson's era. Studio time is so amazing... I have never had time before to take all the great words out and play with them.
I just finished 6 new paintings... more on those later.
Love to all...

Crashed...

My trusty mac is very ill. I have been practicing molecular re-alignment (Science of Mind) but it does not seem to be working. iphoto seems to be the most affected, it won't open and there are no photos to be found. The mac store folks ran the diagnostics and my hard drive is dying. I guess I need a new computer.
This reminds me when I had to sell my 1971 Volkswagen bus.
