An evening walk...

We walked downtown (about 3 blocks) tonight at 8pm to get our mail. It is dark out by 8  so we hung a little light on Chica so we could see her! Chica is not very good on a leash and we are terrible dog trainers so we let her off the leash tonight. She mostly stays near and we were the only souls out on the sidewalk. You cannot see a black dog at night... it was like walking a little firefly. 

I had a terrible headache today and didn't get much done. After dinner friends stopped by and brought me some cookies which did cure me. 

I say it a lot... it's magic here. 

but friends, please move here I miss you. 

How are we doing?

Pretty well... Ms. Chica is sleek and healthy and weighs a whopping 8.2 pounds. She is learning how to handle noises without being so frightened. 

 

This is our friend Sandra who has a huge and amazing garden. Tonight she brought us this "slice" of a 22 pound cantalope!!! (and it was yummy) 

Ginger and I are tired, but we are getting to the end of our house renew/remodel. I'd say we are about 85% done. It's clean and cozy here. We need a heating system soon. In the last two days the cooler fall mornings and eves have arrived.

Tieton Views

This is a view to the west of town. Agriculture industry location 3 blocks from downtown. 

The little town of Tieton is full of modest houses. Mostly all very clean and neat.

Shelly Jo, me and Chica the little dog went for a walk tonight.... peaceful...

Art Life in Yakima

 

Yakima is about 15 miles from Tieton. When we first arrived I though "oh no, it's horrible and ugly and full of strip malls and box stores".  And that is true, parts of town look like West 11th in Eugene... but little by little we started finding the arts scene. 

We attended this opening full of beautiful monoprints, the work of  Joan CawleyCrane. (She is pictured above).

Ginger, Sandra and I cannot remember this woman's name except she was so friendly and nice. 

 

Unframed monoprints on paper and they looked really good on the wall. 

I was wrong about Yakima... there is good art energy here, kind people supporting the arts and I think there is room for me. 

Now if a studio would suddenly materialize...

The yard

Ginger made us a great compost bin. 

 

And she fixed the bottom of the gate so the dogs don't get out...

 

and I make sure the roses are watered and dead headed. I love these small pink blooms...

We hit the wall...

Hard to work without a cooling wet head scarf and continuous ice water. 

I am really, really tired of remodeling. Today I finished the interior painting except for some touch up. I am soooo done with being cooped up in a house. We are about 80 percent finished. We need to install the dishwasher and microwave, build a compost pile, tidy up the yards (except we can't find the battery to the mower), finish the bedroom's french doors, hang all the other interior doors, hang all the cupboard doors and well, I guess that is about it. We are taking the day off tomorrow to explore and do some of the fun things we moved here for...

I LOVE these air balloon things. I love how they jerk and flop about. They seem to be popular at produce stands here. Do you love them too?

Tonight we went out for Mexican food, the waiter very graciously helped me with my Spanish and after a beer and flan, we were able to chill out. Then another Tieton sunset and then a dusk walk with Chica. 80 degrees at 9 pm! I am obsessed with temps and noted that Yachats was a chilly 55 degrees.

Halliburton

Tonight I need my studio which is neatly packed in boxes in a storage locker. My studio will get built in the next few months, but meanwhile... i just need to mess around...

Three of the being I have been calling Halliburton. Why I have no idea, but it must mean something. 

It is hot here which is fine, the evenings and mornings are beautiful. Yesterday I found the kitty sitting in the middle of the sprinkler. Hard to believe but true. He came in the house quite wet. 

Life is a mystery and visual images are tempting pieces of the why...
