These are before photos, that don't exactly describe the depth of dirt this poor house contained. The neighbors told us all about the renters... 4 children, squalor and the father is now in federal prison. But before the stream of bad renters there were the owners who put on a 40 year roof, new windows, a really great covered patio and left lots of little touches that let us know this house was once cared about.
The foundation was basically full of dirt and rocks and had to be dug out. This is some of the rotten wood that had just been thrown in there. The plumbing was held together with duct tape and wasn't even real pipe, but PVC pipe!
This is the bedroom where I was painting the nice french doors that go from bedroom to living room.
The gross and disgusting carpet covered with dead insects. Once we pulled it out the house smelled a lot better. That lovely air conditioner at the top of the stairs is gone and will soon be a window.
There are two tiny bedrooms upstairs. We'll use one as a guest room and one as our office. They have low ceilings and pop up on top of the house like my old VW van.
We have fixed lots of holes in walls and again ripped out the DISGUSTING carpet!
We are regulars now at BiMart and Lowe's where the workers greet Chica by name.
It's good for me to see these "before" photos because we have come a long way in 8 weeks. It will be fun to show you how pretty it is all looking.
Tomorrow, I do the touch up in the bathroom and start on the guest room curtains. The heat wave is over and it's 8:40, breezy and cool. Sigh, wonderful.

What brave pioneers you two are . I don't even like to change the spice cupboards. You need to light candles or smudge in the corners of every room to rid any left over negative energy. I know it will be beautiful. Xxoo
Post pictures of the improvements..
