Do you know these people?

I got this foursome at an estate sale today. I'm curious about them and am wondering what decade they are from. Let me know if you've seen clothespins like these.
I have to complain a little about my studio. It's a giant mess. Paper everywhere and I can't seem to clean it up. I'm not usually like this...
Does paper rule anyone else's life? Arrgh!!!

The MECCA Exhibit

My little attempt at 3-D got kinda lost at the MECCA exhibit. The entries were wild, and big, and lots of fun.

Cool spider made from umbrella ribs.
Hope your week is going well.

Monty is not a yellow dog...

Here are some paintings I have been working on... these three are 8"x8". I've been working with a base of absorbent ground and really liking using graphite along with acrylic ink and paint.

The figures are from the Harmony drawing program. I like her strangely shaped glove.

But... she is my favorite. This is the most accurate description I can render of how I felt at age 15...

And another funny painting of my angel dog...

And me at the mayor's art show next to my paintings. I feel really happy to have my work up. Last eve Linda G. and I had a great time touring all the first Friday exhibits. More soon.

It's time to go to bed, but all I can think about is painting...

I really should be in bed trying to be calm and get ready to sleep. Truth is like many folks I get an energy burst around 9pm. But... I do have to go to work in the morning...
This is one of four paintings in process. Ging is at the coast with her mom and cousin, so my agenda for the next few days is art and housecleaning. I'm also looking forward to the MECCA opening on Friday, I'll post photos soon.

The black areas in the painting are xerox transfer. I love the mushy, irregular lines the transfer makes. These little quirks are sort of like eating really delicious food, they make me so happy.
Hugs to Dean and Katie, I wish you were here too!

Green Smoothie

Yes, I have gotten carried away with the Harmony drawing program.
Not too much more to say. I have 4 paintings percolating and I'm trying to organize my collage piles. I need another month to just work in the studio. Hmmnnn, time to apply for another residency? Meanwhile, it's back to work tomorrow.

Insecurity

Today I dropped my piece off for the Mayor's Art Show. It was wonderful to see my friend D. Thanks for all the work you do at the Jacobs Gallery...
I'm so happy to be in this show.
I loved that someone said "you have to be good to use the color pink".
And... I still wonder when "they" will find out I'm just the little fat kid from podunk nowhere who could never do what my teacher wanted.
We are all such a mix of our past and present.
Whenever I show my work I am so grateful to all my teachers, friends and family who tell me I am ok no matter what crazy thing I make.
I love art. Big time.

Announcements

I will have pieces in two exhibits soon. My pink painting will be part of the Eugene Mayor's Art Show, and my "shoes" part of the MECCA Object Afterlife Challenge. The opening for the Mayor's Art Show is Thursday, August 26th at 5:30. The MECCA exhibit will be open during the Eugene Celebration at 43 E. Broadway (the old MECCA building) and then up at MECCA next to the train station in September.
I'm usually not an exhibit person, so this is being very fun.
I'm happy and will try not to stare at my feet during the openings.
