The last day we were in Palm Springs we visited the Cornelia White house. Built in the late 1800's of railroad ties the house itself was interesting, but then Ginger pulled me to a painting on the wall and said "look". This is the way it is for us... our herstory/history is everywhere, but not usually announced, only recognized. Cornelia never married, participated in cattle drives in and around Palm Springs, she refused to wear dresses and wore riding jodphurs and a leather coat everywhere. She did say she had "dresses and petticoats, but only wore them for funerals". Do we know for sure she was a lesbian? no... but it's likely isn't it? The woman minding the museum took down her painting so we could photograph it outside.
